Product Description
Used by champion horsemen to provide their horses with comprehensive joint support. Contains a special low molecular weight chondroitin sulfate more easily absorbed than the common high molecular weight chondroitin sulfate. Backed up by extensive clinical and field testing. Shown to be bioavailable in horses and to improve joint function in published studies in the US. The synergistic effect of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate performing their primary functions concurrently, using manganese and ascorbate as cofactors, is what makes Cosequin unique and the only product of its kind. Cosequin may be helpful for a horse suffering from Navicular. In the December 1, 2001 issue of Sidelines Equestrian News Magazine, there was a great article on the benefits of administering Cosequin to horses with Navicular. The article gave reference to a study done by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, in which horses with Navicular were given the supplement for 8 weeks. Results from the testing showed significant improvement with the Cosequin. Choice of champion 3-day eventer Kimberly (Vinoski) Severson. U.S. Patent Nos. 5,364,845 and 5,587,363.
Instructions
Recommendations as a dietary supplement. The initial administration period is 4 to 6 weeks. The dosage can be increased but should not be decreased during this period. If a horse shows little or no response after 30 days, extend the initial dosage for two (2) more weeks. Initial administration: Average horse - 3 level scoops AM and PM 1,200 lbs. Or over - 4 level scoops AM and PM Overly large horses (warmbloods, draft breeds) may need 4 or 5 scoops AM and PM. Note from SmartPak: To start up on Cosequin in cases where you have not administered it before, you have two options. You may select a loading dose, which will start you on 6 scoops, once a day and automatically reduce you to 2 scoops once a day after 4 weeks. (Note: SmartPak has received approval from the manufacturer to administer the loading dose for 28 days and to administer it once daily instead of splitting it AM and PM). Or you can use the custom feature to select the number of scoops you want and split them for the AM and PM feedings. You will need to return to the website and manually reduce the dose when desired. Dosages may be adjusted every 4 weeks with the SmartPak system, and changes must be made before the “Change By” date on the packing slip. Transitional period: Please do not lower the dosage until horse has begun to respond. After horse has achieved good response, reducing daily dosage by one (1) level scoop per week. Reducing horse's dosage in this manner will help find its individual maintenance level more easily. Always watch the animals movement and attitude to ensure that it is still feeling comfortable through each weekly transition. Dosage may be increased at any time if needed. (Suggested) Maintenance Administration: Average horse - 1 level scoop AM and PM 1,200 lbs. Or over - 2 level scoops AM and PM Directions for dosing: For most horses, Cosequin can be conveniently administered. If your horse is not fed sweet feed, you can add a small amount of water or molasses to get the Cosequin to stick to the grains. You can also add molasses to appease a more finicky animal. For some horses it may be easiest to oral dose. Simply mix Cosequin with a small amount of water or molasses and dose orally with a syringe.

veterinarian first. Many veterinarians use our Product Specialists as a resource
in the care of their own animals, and to help them construct optimal supplement
programs for their clients. We welcome calls from your veterinarian, trainer or
